Mother's Help

A mother's help is usually unqualified or
may have taken a part-time relevant course. They generally work
alongside the Mother as an extra pair of hands and are not expected
to take full-time sole charge of the child/ren. Their duties include
assisting the mother with the children and light housework, along
with general errands and some babysitting.
Hours of duty are by arrangement.
Nannies

A nanny is a trained and or experienced person
and is capable of sole charge of children. Her duties are all child-related.
The role of a nanny is to provide safe, stimulating, educational
play/care for your child/ren in a loving and happy environment.
A nanny's duties include school runs, children's meals, children's
laundry/ironing, keeping the nursery/playroom/children's bedroom
clean and tidy.
A qualified nanny is trained to NNEB (National Nursery Examination Board), BTEC National Diploma in Nursery Nursing, NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education, DNN (CACHE Diploma in Nursery Nursing) or similar standard. These courses involve both time in college and time working with children either in private households, at nurseries or infant school.
An unqualified nanny should have good hands-on experience
of working with children in a private household normally starting
out as a Mother’s Help with at least 2+ years experience.
